Adopting a transdiagnostic approach, the family of materials labeled “EMOTION” target both anxiety and depression in youth. This family of materials includes (a) a child workbook, (b) the group leader manual, (c) a parent workbook, and (d) the group leader manual for the parent meetings.
The EMOTION materials constitute a program for helping youth to manage anxiety and depression. The program is a 20-session intervention for youth ages 8 to 12 years who have difficulties with symptoms of anxiety and/or depression. The program is designed to reduce the likelihood of the development of an anxiety and/or depression disorder. Implemented in a group format, EMOTION integrates core components of empirically supported treatments for anxiety and for depression in youth (Coping Cat, Kendall & Hedtke, 2006a 2006b; ACTION, Stark et al., 2007). |
